Today's Workplace
The numbers behind why communication (and the nervous system behind it) now decide performance.
20–25% higher productivity in organizations with connected employees.
70% of team engagement is determined by managers.
Leaders Don't Need More Mindset Hacks. They need a nervous system that's trained to stay clear, calm, and in control when it matters most.
That's Where Emotional Fitness Comes in. The Missing Skill Set for Modern Leadership.
In the Midst of:
- AI changing the way we work
- Five generations working together for the first time in history
- Constant organizational change
- Rising burnout and disengagement
- Increasing pressure to do more with less
- Teams expected to move faster than ever
The Way We Are Working is No Longer Working
Organizations don't have a strategy problem. They have a communication problem. Stress creates reactivity. Departments become siloed. Leaders stop listening. Assumptions replace curiosity. Accountability weakens. Trust erodes. Customers notice. Performance suffers.
People don't need another productivity hack. They need leaders and teams who know how to communicate under pressure.
The Future of Leadership is emotional fitness.
$37 Billion in estimated annual losses from employee misunderstanding across 400 large US and UK companies.
Only 20% of employees worldwide were engaged at work in 2025, the lowest level in years.
86% of employees and executives cite ineffective communication or a lack of collaboration for workplace failures.
82% of Leaders Have Experienced Exhaustion Indicative of Burnout
And 96% feel their mental health has declined.
The Future of High-Performing Leadership is Emotional Fitness
Because Leaders Who Regulate Themselves…
- Communicate with Clarity
- Build Greater Trust
- Develop Stronger Teams
- Create Healthier Cultures
- Drive Better Business Results
My Philosophy
Everyone Teaches Communication. I Teach What Happens Before Communication. Most training focuses on what people should say. I focus on why communication breaks down before anyone says a word: stress, reactivity, assumptions, nervous system overload. Communication doesn't fail from a lack of knowledge — it fails when people lose access to their best thinking under pressure.
Emotional Fitness — the Missing Skill Behind Great Communication
Emotional Fitness helps people regulate before they react, listen before they defend, and lead before they blame. Its signature tool is the 90-Second Reset — a practical, neuroscience-backed reset that interrupts reactive behavior in under two minutes. When people regulate themselves first, communication changes. Leadership changes. Culture changes.
The 90-Second Reset
Breathe → Feel → Think. A practical reset you can use in less than two minutes, in the middle of real work.
Breathe
Take a slow, deep breath.
Feel
Feel what you are feeling.
Think
Think clearly, then choose your response.
I'm a trainer. I do the deep work.
I hesitate to even call myself a keynote speaker. And I definitely don't call myself a motivational speaker.
If you just want someone to entertain your conference for an hour, I'm not your guy. Hire a speaker. There are plenty.
But if you want a keynote that opens your audience up to new ideas, and then actually goes deeper with workshops and trainings, your people don't just get inspired, they get tools they'll still be using months later.
I do keynotes to get your team to the real work: silos come down, the blame stops, and people start communicating and performing as one team.
The keynote opens the door. The training is where your people walk through it.
Skeptical? Good. The teams who get the most from this work usually start there. Preeth's team was skeptical at first. Sam is not a rah-rah motivational speaker promising miracle cures. They left energized, and months later they were still implementing what they learned. Doubters in, converts out.
Keynotes
Three talks, each built to open a room up to new ideas and leave people with something they can actually use.
The 90 Second Reset
Storytelling, vulnerability, humor, and science, woven together with transformational breathing.
The talk moves between story, science, and guided breathing, so the room doesn't just hear the idea, they feel it work in real time.
Your audience leaves with: the 90-Second Reset (Breathe, Feel, Think), a practical reset they can use in the middle of real work.
The Future of Mental Health is Emotional Fitness
Mental health, reframed for the workplace your people actually live in.
Mental health treated like fitness: something you train, not something you fix. Sam connects the nervous system to communication, focus, and performance under pressure.
Your audience leaves with: mental health understood as a trainable nervous system skill, not a mindset problem, and a skill they can build.
SOUL/Life Balance
From Sam's book and his TEDx talk on work-life balance.
Sam shares the framework from the book: how to break the patterns that drain you and reclaim clarity, without the hustle that caused the problem.
Your audience leaves with: a way to break old patterns and reclaim clarity.
Keynotes are great. But let's be real. Even as a keynote speaker myself, I know a keynote alone doesn't create lasting change. You can only go so deep in a keynote. The workshops are for the people ready for the deep work.
Workshops
Fully customizable: half-day, full-day, or two-day. Themes include Emotional Fitness, nervous system regulation, communication under pressure, and accountability.
Interactive from start to finish, with breathwork woven in, so your team practices the work instead of just hearing about it.
Sessions mix teaching with guided practice, so people rehearse staying clear, calm, and in control in the moments that usually derail them, instead of just hearing about it.
Every workshop is custom-built from a conversation first, so your team gets exactly what it needs.
Start with a conversation →One Global Team
Built for large corporations whose teams sit in silos, spread all over the world. Camaraderie is hard when people rarely share a room, and communication breaks down over Zoom.
Your team comes together in person and learns to communicate more effectively, with shared standards they build together.
Across one or two days together, the team works through how it actually communicates across time zones and screens, where the silos are, and what good looks like when nobody shares an office.
Your team leaves with: shared communication standards, accountability commitments, their own One Global Team Charter, and 30, 60, and 90 day action plans.
Start with a conversation →Breathwork

Keynotes
Shay MurphyNWPMA
At their annual conference, Shay's group brought Sam in to deliver the keynote, "The 90 Second Reset."
Sam blended storytelling, personal experiences, vulnerability, humor, science, and truly transformational breathing exercises.
Afterward, Shay could barely keep up with members calling to ask how to bring Sam back to speak at their local clubs.
AliahNASW
Aliah had never reached out to a keynote speaker after an event before. The value of Sam's time with her community moved her to do exactly that.
She took his 90-second reset into her pregame routine as an athlete and applied his message of Performance with Purpose.
It carried her through some of the most difficult rounds of a National Event she had ever competed in, to her best performance to date.
Workshops & Teams
Preeth Srinivasan
Preeth's employees were skeptical at first, and Sam was not a rah-rah motivational speaker promising miracle cures or platitudes of toxic positivity.
He was clear, concise, and in touch, and he adapted his message to the audience in front of him.
The team left energized, and weeks and months later they were still implementing what they learned.
Jane Meagher
Jane hired Sam for her group, a little concerned that not all of them would embrace the topic. Her own life had improved from this kind of work, and she wanted to offer that opportunity to people who may not have otherwise embraced it.
Sam commanded the room, interacted with the group, and got the most out of the workshop and interactive portion of the program.
Jane was glad she took the leap, and she believed everyone in the room agreed.
Breathwork & 1:1
Terry Sardinas
Terry turned to Sam's breathwork guidance for support through countless moments where she felt on the edge of a panic attack.
Through his gentle, intuitive approach, those moments gave way to a place of calm and clarity.
She points to his kindness, patience, and deep understanding of the breath as a tool for healing, whether the goal is managing stress, deepening a mindfulness practice, or reconnecting with yourself.
Thibaud Stainnack-BaudelBeyond the Hustle
Thibaud attended the first ever iteration of Sam's Beyond the Hustle weekend workshop, and he went in with very high expectations.
His favorite part was the Total System Reset, a journey he could only describe as cosmic, where original wounds of fear, anger, and guilt were healed.
That very same evening, for the first time in his life, he was no longer burdened by those negative emotions.
"This seminar was really the first day of the rest of my life."
What People Say After Working with Sam
"I've done NLP training before and I was surprised at the level of depth we went into in this training. Sam has a way of integrating his personal breathwork method into NLP and so it was a deeper experience for me!"
"He came and knocked it out of the park with his enthusiasm and engagement with the audience... He made a lasting impact, and I cannot recommend him highly enough for any leadership or professional development event. If given the opportunity, I would hire Sam again for any future event."
"The staff enjoyed the breathwork activities you did, and many felt the relaxation techniques took them to another place and provided a sense of peace within... During the rest of our two-day retreat, there were many conversations about how the staff connected with you and felt encouraged to seek your services on another level."
"This is my second time watching a presentation by Sam and he is excellent at providing great information but also in keeping the audiences attention, even with a 2 hour session."
"He took a presentation that most of our attendees were skeptical about and completely changed their minds on the power of the breath work. Completely relevant to any audience in any industry."
"The combination of ... NLP ... helps leaders with self-awareness and ensuring mental health in the workplace. I have participated in several of his events and cannot recommend him highly enough."
"I have been doing breath and inner work for a long (long) time, 29 years... and I've been a counselor as well for 18 yrs (licensed clinical social worker). Sam's work is amazing and his intentions, tempo, disposition and the spirit-space of giving and help that he creates and holds is 2nd to none."
What Does Nervous System Regulation Even Mean, Anyway?
- The network that manages stress, emotions, and energy — and shapes how you respond to life before you say a word.
- In leadership: the system that decides, under pressure, whether you react — or respond with clarity and intention.
"He trained his nervous system the way Steph Curry trains his — pulling his heart rate from the 150s to below 80 in a single 90-second timeout, just by breathing."
